About the foundation:
The Brady Wynn Foundation was started in 2021 in memory of Brady Wynn Gullicksen. Brady was born on May 21st 2019. 2 weeks after his birth his parents knew that something was not right with their baby boy. After going to the emergency room at Children’s Hospital, Brady was given a MRI scan that revealed life changing news. The scan showed that he had 2 cysts on the frontal lobe of his brain, and that his brain had not grown in size since birth. Brady was also experiencing seizures and was inconsolable almost all of the time that he was awake.
After weeks in the hospital and several tests Brady was broadly diagnosed with microcephaly, however, there was no conclusive neurological disorder discovered. His brain abnormalities were so rare that they had never been seen before. His medical team included neurologists, dieticians, genetics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, palliative care, infectious disease, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, ENT, and his regular pediatrician. Brady’s life was very challenging and unknown, and his family did everything they could to keep him comfortable. Brady passed away peacefully in his parent’s arms on November 3 rd 2019.
Brady is a part of an ongoing research study at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin which hopefully one day can provide more answers to help other families that may be going through a similar situation with their child. The Brady Wynn Foundation’s mission is to “Help spread awareness of neurological disorders in children while providing assistance to families who have been impacted.” The foundation is able to accomplish this by donations that go directly to families in need and to continued research.
